Our internship will introduce you to the Control System Integration field where you will learn about the fun and technically challenging opportunities it provides in Automation and Robotics.

The internship is a structured program to provide students a hands-on experience where you will learn about Controls Design, Controls Engineering, How to Build a Control Panel, and PLC programming and debugging.  These topics are covered as part of our “NTH University” which will include the following topics:

  • 101 Introduction to Controls
  • 102 Introduction to Panel Fabrication
  • 103 Introduction to PLC programming
  • 104 Introduction to Controls Design

Each of these topics will involve hands-on opportunities to apply the material in Control System Integration.

The internship will culminate with a project that requires the intern to generate a drawing package using AutoCAD Electrical, select components (or Bill Of Material using Excel), build a panel, program a PLC and HMI, then debug the system on a conveyor line in our training lab.  This project will include all the key elements a controls engineer would be involved with during an automation project.

If time permits, the intern will also engage on various automation projects to expand their understanding of the controls field.

Each intern is paired with a mentor to guide them through the internship program.
