Automation NTH Enhances Medical Device Production with Rockwell’s MagneMover LITE

NTH X Rockwell Automation MagneMover LITE

Automation NTH tackled a medical device manufacturer’s challenge of scaling production while reducing costs and maintaining FDA compliance through their 30 step process for their device assembly system.

After determining the production costs of the assembly process were driven by the extensive footprint of the system, NTH turned to MagneMover LITE from Rockwell Automation to develop a more cost-effective approach. Instead of running at fixed speed and fixed pitch like conventional conveyors, MagneMover LITE enables independent control of magnetically propelled carriers on a track in a simpler, more compact footprint.

By shifting from fixed-speed, fixed-pitch conveyors to a system that enables precision and efficiency, Automation NTH achieved a 38% reduction in the system’s footprint, enabling a significant space-saving in production. This reorganization allowed for a doubling of production capacity, providing the flexibility to scale operations while maintaining FDA compliance. The system’s independent control of magnetically propelled carriers additonally improved process efficiency and precision, resulting in a 40% reduction in per-part costs.
