Game Controller Case Study

Situation

A customer in the software industry started with an ambitious goal: to make its first ever game controller and fully automate the production process. Starting with just an initial product concept and no idea how to make it, the customer engaged our machine builder partner to develop a manufacturing line. Our machine builder partner utilized Automationnth controls engineers for control system integration.

Action

Through concurrent engineering with our mechanical partners, we rapidly iterated until landing on a build-ready design to hand off to our panel shop. After delivery of the custom control panels, our senior engineers started the commissioning stage of project, including device communication configuration, debugging, IO checkout, and consultation on mechanical deficiencies. Our engineers also set up a robust fault diagnostics system to show the machine operator exactly where production issues occur, thereby limiting downtime risk and machine damage.

Result

The world’s first fully automated game controller assembly, delivered on time and exceeding our customer’s expectations.
